Obsessive-Compulsive-Disorder (OCD)
When working therapeutically with OCD, the focus is on helping clients understand the nature of their obsessions (intrusive thoughts) and compulsions (repetitive behaviours). Therapy often involves helping clients to face their fears in a gradual, controlled way while resisting the urge to engage in compulsions, reducing their anxiety over time and identifying and challenging unhelpful thought patterns that sustain OCD and developing healthier coping mechanisms. The goal is to empower clients to manage their symptoms and regain control over their lives.
